hey everyone,

do you guys see a problem with putting my new leaf springs
in without the rear end in the car.

i would hand tighten the bolt good enough so the rear does not
fall on me or hit the ground.

by the way i when went the jcw 3 leafed springs (part # ZX942669X)
to replace my mono leaf springs.

thanks for your time,
MARK B

don't see why not, although when you put the rear end in I would think you'd have to drop the springs (at least one side). Might be possible to do without that, but sure seems to be the hard way.

Why would you want to do that?

beause i removed the junk 10 bolt rear end to put in
the other 10 bolt rear end i brought in.

thanks again guys for your time and input it helped.

im gonna put the rear end in first then jack up one side
at a time and replace the leaf springs.

i will also try to take some pictures of the whole process too.
(like a step by step summary)

thanks once again guys for your time

I am not quite sure what you are planning to do,but here is what i would do:
if you are replacing the springs and rear end at once the easiest way i know of would be to pull the old springs a rear out at once. Then jack the new rear into place and bolt the springs to the car one at a time and lower the axle down onto the springs

Easiest would be to put the front perches of the new springs on, let the backs lay on the floor.
Set the new rear's pumpkin on the saddle of your jack and roll her into place.
Bolt the springs to the rear.
Crank on the jack till you can get the shackles in.

details jim, details. your way is a little easier and more specific
but anything is easier that putting an axle in after the leafs are installed

Ain't it the thruth...
When I swapped to the 8.5 I left the springs attached cause I didn't feel like pulling the tank...
Out and in thru the side with a fully dressed rear is a BEETCH!

WORK SAFE

I always leave the front tires on the ground.

Then I crib her up at the rockers using a 12" to an 18" long pieces of 2x and also just in front of the front spring mounts on each side of the driveshaft.

You DON'T want that sucker FALLING on you b/c it can KILL YOU!!

Take care AND be CAREFUL!!
