OK so the guy who sold me my car has a rear end for sale and I was wondering if it could be original to my car or not.

Its coded BV 0227G1

Casting date B78

What cars came with these rears? Also the build date of my car is 09E so Im assuming its too far ahead?

Thanks

All my books show that to be a 4.10 posi. That code came in a Camaro, but I don't know what other cars had it.

did certain models get the 4:10 or could it come on anything?

I don't know for sure, but I thought you could order just about any rear you wanted. The Z28 "standard" was a 3.73 and Chevy recommended posi, but I think you could have ordered any rear within a range.

His car is an 09E of 1967...the rearend is about 4 1/2 months after his car was made or so

I think the casting is probably a B79 date and the rear is out of a 69 Camaro. Many times, the "9" looks like an "8" on these '69 bolts.
