OK Noob here, first my background. My first car was a 1968 Camaro 26 years ago, my second a 72. I also had an 82, but who cares about that.

Anyways getting back in the craze and want a 1st gen Camaro. Getting out the vintage sport bike resto craze pretty much.

My first question is this. I have seen and read about the Dynacorn replacement body. Has anyone titled one of these, specifically in Florida? I saw on one TV show where they are building one and they suggest a donor car with a clear VIN. I thought that was illegal. I know kit cars get titled, don't they offer some type of MSO (I think thats the term correct me if I am wrong). I tried a search on the forum, but could not get my question answered.

Again forgive me for the noob question.

Pretty sure in most states that can be titled pretty easy as a kit car. I am sure if you call a retailer in your state or region they will have all the details.
Good luck on your project.
BTW thier is a goodmark dealer in my area that will build it the way you want it E.g Mini Tubs ect.

Thanks for the reply. That link you posted. Looks like if you provide them an original shell, they could rebody the whole thing?

i think the "kit" car has to meet all the safety standards for the year it was built ie, 2007. If you rebody an older car you only need to meet the standards for the year of the car. Much easier in 1969 than today, air bags, anti lock brakes, ect. So best way is rebody with a good vin#. IMHO

Most kit cars do not have air bags. I believe the safety standards for a home-built car are much lighter than production cars.
In KS, it's very easy. All you really need is the MSO for the kit and any documentation you have on where the major components came from. The Highway patrol inspects it for basic safety and you're on your way to getting it titled.

It is illegal in PA. They should be issued state issued special VIN plates.

I talked to a guy building and selling Dynacorn bodied cars from Minnesota. He says the dynacorn body is a replacement part in the eyes of the law up there as it has no Manufacturers Statement of Origin. I got out of him that they have done cars both ways, rebodied or from all new parts both with out problems in titleing or VINs. The car I was looking at was a ls1 powered 6 speed 2007(all new parts) that looked just like a restomoded 69 pace car.I personally see little difference between a coplete rebody and a car that gets new rockers, quarters, trunk floor &drops, floors, tail pan, tulip panel and roof.
