View Full Version : 69 decode & question
jjump59 Dec 9th, 07, 03:29 PM Had this car for awhile and pretty much determined it is nothing fancy but would like to make sure with you guys. Here is the tag info
ST69 12437 NOR296500 BODY
TR 727 79 79 PNT
03D X44
VIN 124379N62xxxx
Single 3/8 fuel line, checked the tank to see if anyone cut one off and they didn't. Disc brakes, pwr steering, AC, tilt wheel with column shift auto (no linkage) but there are holes for mounting a shifter and for a cable on trans hump. Column might have been changed sometime?
10 bolt, posi, multi leaf rear out of 68 Camaro, PG0416G2 stamped with a casting date of I218. So don't know what it might have had in originally.
Thing that bothers me is the single fuel line. Is there any other information I should be looking at to try and determine what this car had from the factory? Thanks
jjump59 Dec 18th, 07, 07:55 PM i'll move this to the top and see if anyone responds.

Being an A/C V8 car with a single 3/8" fuel line, you're likely looking at a 307 car.
Eric Kammerer Dec 18th, 07, 08:16 PM Well...
With a March 69 build, V8 VIN, and a base car X-code, it would have been either a L14 307 2bbl car or an L65 350 2bbl car. Quadrajet equipped cars are the only ones to get dual fuel lines, and by March of 69 only the L48 SS350 and L35/L34 396s had Q-jets, and both of those would have a different X code. Only way for it (your X44) to be anything else would be as a COPO car.
Does it have a factory welded on reinforcement plate on the driver side frame rail, behind the rear tire (indicating it came with dual exhaust)? Any signs of it being a factory big block car?
It's kind of a cool color combo, with the Ralleye Green exterior and ivory/black interior.
Eric Kammerer Dec 18th, 07, 08:16 PM Darn, RAD beat me....again! :)

AC car, Eric :)
Eric Kammerer Dec 18th, 07, 08:36 PM Doh again... missed the A/C part too.
jjump59 Dec 18th, 07, 10:43 PM Cool, thanks for the info guys. I was thinking everything but the LM1 cars had a dual fuel line. I'll bet your on track with it being a 307 or 350 2bbl car. Dash had a powerglide indicator in it. I like the color combo also and plan on going back to it with a pro-touring theme. thanks again.
