Built (final assembled) in Belgium ...

Probably, that what I've seen on a few other 69 exports.
It was built in the US at Norwood. No way of knowing where it went unless the car has docs.

That color keeps popping up on 69 exports.

No week code on the build date, is that common for export tags?

Other than the lack of the conformance statement, the tags should be the same as regular cars.
The thumbprints are either not original or atypical. They normally shot a dob of sealer out of a gun into the rivet (same sealer used on the firewall seam).

That is a trimtag for cars exported to Continental Europe. They were then complemented with another trimtag, as seen on the second pic. The second trimtag had the complementary information about the car that was required by the authorities in different countries.

I have seen the same tag on cars that went thru GM Suisse Bienne.

Kurt, do you mean the red or the Cortez Silver?

It looks like it is repainted red over silver.

Looks like an Antwerp tag, not a Suisse Tag.
Antwerp cars I have seen have two tags in addition to the Norwood tag.
Is there another Antwerp tag on this car?

So it should have a week code code but someone made a mistake?

Do you have any other examples of week codes missing?

I was talking about the Norwood tag. They came without the information text on the bottom. Since that text didn't have any jurisdiction in Europe they excluded it on export cars.

The second tag that was put on was required with some variety in different European countries. GM Continental put it on the cars that came thruogh the Antwerp facility. GM Suisse did put on theirs. The Norwood tag lacked some information that was required on tags by law in some European countries.

I still say the tag is for general export - there's no evidence than non-European cars were tagged differently. They removed the US conformance statement. Could have gone to South America, etc.

I mean the Cortez silver keeps showing up.

Yes, it must be a tag misstamp. It happens.....

The Suisse tags have the engine code on them, but I didn't see that on the Antwerp tags.

Would'nt it be nice if all tags had the engine code on them like Suisse tags!

Well, now that's annoying.

DjD,
I think it's better for the continuity of the thread to post new info or pictures as a new post and not add them to original post. I had no idea what Jan was talking about......

What about that notch under the left (right in picture) rivet?

Am I missing something, or did a message in this thread get deleted?

Scot,
No, I had just realized there was a new picture in the original post. Before, there was only the trim tag pic.

Both pictures were always there. The lower picture was really far to the right of the trim tag picture. If you didn't notice the bar at the bottom of the page and scroll hard right you could easily miss it. djd rearranged the pictures today evidently.

Then I apologize! I sure missed them.
Thanks for letting me know and to DjD for fixing it!

Silver and Gold was very popular those years over here, especially in combination with a black vinyltop. Lots of Opels and German Fords came like that then.

It makes it more interesting and for some that may affect the price, but I think the general market would treat it like a regular 69.

I'd be interested in the VIN and a better pic of the Antwerp tag when you get chance. My email is KurtS2@gmail.com.
Thanks!

Just buy the car, SPIKEY'O AKA (SPIKE Z O) it's only money, and I don't think it's a size a of a BasketBall in the trunk, If you call a Basketball SMALL in the trunk of a camaro we have problems there, BOSS!!! it's more like a Golfball looking at the pic you sent me, and IF you Can't run with the Big Dogs keep your SLED in the Shed
