Was this rear discontinued in 71 going to a 10 bolt?? Thanks in advance,Dan steverino Dec 10th, 07, 10:05 PM According to Nasty Z website the 70 was the only year with the 12 bolt. SP rafbody Dec 11th, 07, 07:11 AM My understanding is that that rear end was used in late 69 camaros and in the 70 camaro and nova. Kurt S Dec 11th, 07, 07:24 AM Russ has it right. http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#RearAxleNumbers 1968Motion427SSNova Dec 11th, 07, 09:53 PM So this would bolt right into a 68,69,70 Nova or 68 69 Camaro with multi leafs? Axle tube lenghts and multi leaf perches on the rear I have are the same? By the way, date codes on the GM 410 gears are 5/69,pn# 3862526 ring gear and 3862514 pinion gear. Thanks Guys for your help!! dan bilede Dec 11th, 07, 11:13 PM Hi Dan, I don't believe from the casting of the center housing you gave you can say for sure what it will bolt right into. I have seen that center in late 69 camaro's, 70 novas, 70 camaros which width is different of tubes, etc., impalas, caprices, and probably others. if its not been modified only the stampings will tell you the application. I could be missing something though cause it is late.. ;) Kurt S Dec 12th, 07, 07:35 AM Yup, the center section was used on several applications. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/304274/an/0/page/0#Post304274 discusses the same thing. 1968Motion427SSNova Dec 12th, 07, 08:30 AM Codes stamped on axle tube are as follows,COO 123 G1 E,casting date on rear is A60. Thanks again! Dan Kurt S Dec 12th, 07, 01:27 PM It's a 70 Camaro axle, it will not fit in a 1st gen unless you move the spring perches. 1968Motion427SSNova Dec 12th, 07, 03:52 PM Made a mistake on the casting number, checked it today again.Thought the 3 was a 8 ,but I cleaned it real good and its definitly a 3! So its 3969"3"41NF.Have pictures on my digital camera of everything, Dan Jeff H Dec 14th, 07, 04:22 PM Dan, if that was a COX coded rear, I would have already bought it from you. That's a pretty early rear for the 70 Z28's or SS cars. 1968Motion427SSNova Dec 14th, 07, 09:05 PM Jeff,I know where the rest of the 70 1/2 Z/28 4spd car is and it can be bought.Missing the original motor, trans and rear though. Solid car though still has the Z/28 cowel tag, original front disc, original dash with Z-tach and correct redline.Has the original multi leafs with a Moser rear. Black custom interior, white vinyl top car, white stripe car ,58 Autunm gold car. Dan |
