Eric Kammerer Dec 11th, 07, 08:52 PM VIN 124379N507984 in case it shows up again. Clean PA title for a dashtop, plus a cut up rolling shell with some other partial VIN stamp. Can't read the cowl tag. VIN is a very early 69 build.
1969ProStreetCamaro Dec 11th, 07, 08:55 PM That's because he knows whoever wins the auction won't be using the "car" offered at auction, only the VIN and clear Pa. Title

He has alrady "offered" to junk the car for whoever buys it and send the VIN and Clear title. The dang thing already (as of this post) has 18 bids on it.
The steering wheel looks decent :)

chevy67 Dec 17th, 07, 06:53 PM The important part is the Q and A section . Here is the guys Phone # that probably bought the tag
Question & Answer Answered On
Q: Hello, what do you want for that tag? email your ph no mine is 1 204 655 3483 I will call you free!! thanks Floyd Dec-06-07
A: 3500. for tag and dash vin and california title and california front and rear licence plates dating back to 93..Thanks steve
I reported the seller to ebay for selling a vin without the car. best of all for selling something for 3500 bucks without Ebay getting a dime. That should piss them off [grin]
JohnZ Dec 18th, 07, 07:09 PM I usually do a reverse search on the seller's (and/or buyer's) phone number for a name and address and notify their state police Auto Theft Unit and sic 'em on them.
chevy67 Dec 20th, 07, 06:16 PM That would be great but, I cant prove he bought it. Though they might keep the #s in there registry and if it comes up for title then nail him. Maybe aginst the seller since the evidence is there of him attempting to sell VIN. I'm getting a bug up my ass : I'll see how far I can take this

well there are a few to pick from, How about a good lead on some decent used white interior panels for the 69, got new seats, but like original panels. The cali police called me back and was on the phone for a good 10 mins . He has to turn the case over to motor vehicle division but assures me that there is enough evidence to proceed with an investigation[ OH YEA!] I asked him to contact me on the outcome[ no names of the perp can be given of coarse] and he left me with his email to keep in touch. At the very least the vin tag will be confiscated. Thats a PLUS. The guy could get in big since he's attempting to sell the plates also. My next step is to purchase a prepaid cell and call the guy that wanted the cowl tag to see what he ended up doing and get any info I can. I will look up his phone # to see what state hes in and contact motor vehicle there, if he bought it wait till he tries to title it. This is sort of fun. Everyone says something should be done, actions are stronger than words.

Those panels.... Standard or Deluxe Interior? There is a Camaro parts retailer somewhat close to me that might have some used ones. I can call him and see.
DOUG G Dec 21st, 07, 06:04 PM Seems "Kozmo" had bought something from an Auto recyler also... where you think that VIN's going ?
chevy67 Dec 21st, 07, 06:23 PM David , its a standard. I do appreciate it. PM me , e-mail me , Whatever, no big hurry. Did you call him yet? Hahaha or hohoho. again that would be great , let me know.
Doug, I didnt think of looking at the winning bidder as far as the Vin tag cause the auction was only for the rivots. But once I get the pre paid cell I will find a little more info from the phone # listed. I'm taking this "all out", Thanks I will search the winner a bit[ not guilty until proven] but still guilty

Where did you get " kozmo" from? there is no kozmo on the bidder list. is this a different auction?
I also know the winning bidder for the rivots lives in Cali near Oak hills, he bought a set of heads [camel humps] and it was pick up only no shipping. could be our mr. floyd that wanted the cowl tag. I should have been beter at Clue , damb Mr. Mustard

tar6569 Dec 21st, 07, 07:13 PM I was thinking about the mentioned auction and then thinking about a badly rusted 68 camaro shell (was a V8) that was at our local junkyard. It had the tags on it but he crushed it. On one side, I am thinking its to bad a camaro was crushed but on the other, I'm sure that if he had saved it, someone would have bought it and the tags would be on another body in the future. This shell was the only old piece he has ever crushed in the yard.

Well think about this ;;; You have a 68 Camaro and suddenly its stolen!! You never find it cause some jackass has an original VIN < COWL , and title from another car. That jackass removes your tags and puts his on. Then grinds the #s under the heater or cuts it out and replaces with a restamp. Its now his and your **** out of luck. Thats why its illegal to remove a vin. I had the same senerio. old 67 in a scrap yard. I bought it and parted it, then sold it to someone that is going to build it for a racer. And I mean I parted it, cut it up bad. The guy is in the same state as I am and I sent the info into motor vehicles so it will never be titled . Next time your in a yard and you see one grab it if you can or let someone here know about it. I also know a yard , The guy told me he crushed one 2 days prior , I cringed and he said " just makes yours worth more"
chevy67 Jan 10th, 08, 04:36 PM UPDATE!!!!! Cali police emailed me[ a Srgt. Fenton] He also found another incident this guy was involved in with tags, so now Srgt. Fenton turned it over to the MVD assuring me that the guy will be strung by his balls. Well its off to the next Ebay tag attack

$55 for 2 lousy rivets? You're kidding??
AMK have them for $1 each! #B-13182.
chevy67 Jan 12th, 08, 05:42 PM WOW!!! I thought that the news of some scum bag atleast getting investigated would bring more enthusiasm than just one member. Evidently most here just talk the big talk. That's right I said that. Everyone bitches about ebay and the people on there selling these tags but all that is done to my knowledge is the little report click on the Ebay page. If more people would go the extra step this could be stopped!! Dont get me wrong, I love this site and the people are great, we all love the things they way they were[ HP] but there is definitly not enough effort put into stopping the bs sale of the tags and the laws that pertain to them. Yes , I got a bug up my ass and took the extra step and it panned out pretty good, maybe more should do the same. I'm in PA and got the california police to investigate someone and put an end to his activities. I'm not looking for recognition, big banners, neon lights, special smillie with a knife threw someones face,[though that would be cool] I just want more to join in the effort and not just the spoils. I will continue to report fake tags and illegal sale of vins to police locallities where they originate with or without this forum, but to read that someone else has eliminated another frauder would be even better. What do you say?,Do a little research and report these people to the police, DMV, or Ebay. STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!! EVERYONE DO A REPORT ON ALL TAGS ON EBAY, Maybe they will get the hint. Maybe I'm just pissing in the wind expecting all from this site to take 30 mins out of there life to take the extra step. I know theres alot of you that will say "I do" " but I never get anywhere" Well thats BS. I put effort into one time and got results. The guys here that run this site and keep records of all tags illegit are doing a great job but we as a whole must do more. e-mail your finds of tags and vins to me I will follow up with the proper authorities for you. PS , IF THERE IS A GM EMPLOYEE OUT THERE THAT HAS STOCK , YOU CAN STOP FAKE TAGS ON EBAY. It is an incringment on GM when fake tags are sold and your stock price goes down.
1969ProStreetCamaro Jan 12th, 08, 05:52 PM Joe,
I'm glad that you got some results. What did you do differently with Ebay than I did? I couldn't find any other method of reporting the auction than the "report this item" link that is total bulls*!t Did you use Google to find out things about the seller?
chevy67 Jan 12th, 08, 06:25 PM Well I got lucky that the guy posted the question from someone else about selling the vin, cowl, title and plates. I then looked at where it was located[ which was some city &&%* beach california] So I typed it into the google to look for that city, looked for the police dept. , and looked for thier phone #, I called the police dept. , got a dispatcher, she told me an officer would call me after I told her that someone was attempting to sell illegal car tags, the officer[ Srgt. Fenton] called me within 10 mins. and I explained to him to the entire story, He punched up the Ebay item on his computer and said he will follow up on it. He was pissed that someone would try to sell what they were selling and assured me he would do something about it.
HI,
After some research, I discovered a similar case regarding the same guy. Both reports have been forwarded to CA Department of Motor Vehicle as they are the experts in the field.
Good luck with the weather fronts coming through.

Hello officer Fenton,
Hope your holidays were good. I was the person from Pa that discussed an ebay transaction with you about the sale if vin tags and plates. I know it takes awhile and you cant give too much info but I was just wondering if anything came of it.; If you get a chance to update me I would really appreciate it , that will let me know if my efforts were worth it. Be safe , and Thank you,
Joe Arnold
That is one of the e-mails from him
All it takes is a little research and some nads. I'm sure that this guy will get nailed with the laws the way they are. The tags may be somewhere else by now but they are in the computer base so when someone tries to title it they are screwed

DOUG G Jan 12th, 08, 06:48 PM Joe, I'm glad you got the Police to do something. :hurray:
I called the NJ State Police on the "kosmo" guy selling a VIN and Cowl tag... no one ever got back with me and I didn't follow up... I guess thats on me ?
Anyhow, congrats on your "kill" (so to speak) and hopefully there will be more if they advertise (would be great if it would end and no one had to do this anymore).
