What (if any) is the original color of a 1968 Powerglide tranny pan? My car is a documented low mile orig., but the pan is blue. I have a hard time believing this is original color. Thanks.

The automatic transmissions were installed unpainted to include the oil pans. Yours would be natural steel and probably rusty if it was the original unserviced pan. It could still be the original tranny if someone repainted it after a rebuild or filters change/service. I'm no that up on automatic cars but I beleive the vin number or part therof was stamped in the side of the pan. This could help determine the tranny's originality. Someone jump in here if I'm wrong.

VIN derivative was stamped on the flange on the trans case, not the pan.
