My computer will not allow me to use the links offered so please help if you can. I am trying to put 17 or 18" wheels on my 68 Camaro. I go down to my local tire shop and they really can't help me with rim and tire sizing. They just say we can try on different sizes. I would like to prevent that step. Does anybody know a rim sizing IE: Back spacing witch would center the load for the bearings but yet still fill the rear wheel well and front. Would be satisfied for 17 both rear and front or 17 front, 18 rear. Pretty open would just like to drop it about 2" with the Hotchkis TVS. Thanks

You can search and read countless threads about wheel/tire sizes, and there's a "sticky" posted at the top of this page and in the Suspension forum that show pics of combinations of 1st gens that'll give you a good idea with specific year, wheel/tire combo, and suspension changes.

Having said that, 17" all around are a great and popular choice among members here. You should be safe using 17x8, 4.75 bs for front, and 17x9.5, 5.5" bs for the rear...in conjunction with the TVS system you mentioned. You can go anywhere from 215 to 245 on front...and up to 275 on the rear..no sweat. But beware that this is general info, and that each same year 1st gen can truly be different.

And welcome to TC!
