Where would be a good place to get a piece of sheetmetal from? I'm looking for about a 3' x 4' size. Would Home Depot carry something like this? What gauge do I need? Cold rolled steel right?

Thanks!

Autobody supply or sheetmetal shop. You probably want 20ga.

I agree, sheetmetal shop is probably your best bet. I go to a shop by me and they have a barrel of scrap out there that they let me go through for nothing. Don't think I could get a piece 3'x4', but 3' x 16" is not uncommon.

Home Depot here carries 16ga. and 22 ga.. 16 is too thick and 22 too thin, go figure. 8" x 16" of 16 gauge is $6.00.

Good luck.

Another good source would be a hood from a large car. Check your local salvage yard.

These are measurements from a 1969 chevelle, but your camaro is probably the same.

Anyway, if it might help.

Alro Metal Products is here in Jackson and There mite be one near ann arbor

3 x 4 Dunno what kind of shipping cost they would charge for that but if its around 50 bucks you may as well drive. You could possible go to a fab shop in your area and ask if you could buy a piece off them or have them order a pc on there next purchase>?
