Is the reproduction pod available without guages? I'd like to use it with aftermarket guages installed and am not interested in spending >$250 for a full assembly.

Yeah, you can get it at most all of the part houses. Here's a thread I did some time back. It'll give you an idea what 2-5/8 gauges look like in the housing.
