Stopped by a store to check out both of these welders. I noticed that the wire drive has been upgraded on the Lincoln. Looking for some opinoins on these two welders from people who have first hand experiences with either welder.

I have the Miller. The autoset works as intended.

The Miller is a better machine, across the board. We have at least 60 Miller units at work in production. If you can afford a Miller, that is the way to go.

Thanks the price difference is only $15. The Lincoln is $680 and the Miller is $695

There's not a lot of difference in those size welders. The thing about the Lincoln is that parts and accessories are more easily available, and common between models. You won't be able to find any parts for a Miller on Sunday afternoon like you can for a Lincoln.

I have a Hobart 135 and love it. Some of you may not realize that Hobart is actually made by Miller. Parts are also real easy to get.

Both Hobart and Miller are owned by Illinois tool Works, although the welders are not the same. It's a common misconception. They share components, although there are key differences.
It's similar to GM having both Chevrolet and Cadillac lines. A Suburban and an Escallade may share components, but they're distinctly different vehicles.

I just went through this delima when looking at the new Millermatic 180 Autoset vs the comparable Lincoln. I've used Lincolns my entire life, although I was much more impressed with the Miller when I had the chance to use the two side by side. I ended up ordering the Miller.

I have a Millermatic 200 that I have had for 24 # years any miller mig is the way to go. If you havent bought on yet I would go with miller.For tig or stick welding I would go with lincoln.

Sounds like it's Miller time....
