Hi guys,
I've read insulation threads and articles til I'm blue in the face. What I've done is use FatMat on the whole inside of my car, on the inside of the door skins, then on the inside of the doors themselves. Going up the firewall and behind the kick panels too. Most likely will do under the headliner later.
I put the carpet in and drove it a couple months. The FatMat stopped a lot of panel vibrations and made things sound more solid. Reduced loudness in interior due to Flowmaster 40's. All positive. But I still want to quiet the interior more, and would like to use a foam mat or some other layer over the FatMat. What have you guys done who have used FatMat, and what were the results. I don't want to change exhaust system, but plan to put in a new radio/CD palyer, and want to be able to hear it. Not into mega-wattage systems
Thanks guys,
RJ

I got into this with an off brand dyna mat material and thick foil back jute pad prior to carpet and jute backing. Like you I added througout car, firewall, doors, flooors , roof and deck. As you said, it did cut outside noise as well as insulate.

I did the same thing ie: matted the entire cabin, then sprayed second skin over the entire thing 3mm thick thats right, 3millimeters thick. Many coats. The second skin sprayed on gave the cabin twice the sound proofing/deadening effect that the matting did. Incredible results. If you have gone that far you may as well finish it off.

I used second skin mat and the spray in type on the floors ,doors, and roof it seems to have done a great job. there is some research done on the web if you google sound deadining the guy did a real nice job testing all the products out there. I was convinced that second skin was about the best according to his research.
