I received my dated headrests from Just Dashed today. They look absolutely great. I am sure they look the same as they did in October 1968. Very pricey and took a total of 11 weeks but I am sure they are worth it.

Just kidding! If you have headrests, and want original and can't find a decent used pair, Just Dashes is your only option. Restoring old vehicles and their parts correctly will cause you to spend money. Gary L Dec 31st, 07, 09:36 AM I thought they only did just dashes? .................:D tonycamaro Dec 31st, 07, 01:20 PM I was only kidding about the 14k. They actually look very good, and I may have to send my Pace car headrests there. stope4 Dec 31st, 07, 04:59 PM dashes, head rests, door panels, and the piece that fits between the dash pad and the roof on the side of the windshield. TonyC. I couldn't resist the 14K comment. Hell, Just Dashes is more like needing a bank. But it's worth every penny. bertfam Dec 31st, 07, 11:24 PM Rick, what are the dates on your head rests? I've seen some very early 69's with dates from May, 1968! It appears they were stock piling for the new model year. Ed othal Jan 1st, 08, 06:41 AM May 7, 1968. These are the original on my 1st week of October build date. bertfam Jan 1st, 08, 12:00 PM Thanks Rick. That's what I was expecting. Ed RSSSfanatic Jan 10th, 08, 09:16 PM I was looking for a good used set of straight bar headrests for my 69 RS/SS 396 conv, but this might be a good alternative. Mine are just starting to split along the piping on one side. What kind of condition were yours in before they were restored? Is $550 the going rate, or does the price vary according to condition? BTW, my car is a very early Sep 68 Van Nuys build. I think the date was around Sep 10, 68. It was probably one of the earliest to run down the line - they were so short on parts that the car ended up with a Firebird deluxe rear seat bottom and a firebird jack instruction sticker in the trunk. I guess the 'Birds were built on the same line out there! ccmblack Jan 10th, 08, 09:25 PM Where are the headrests, date stamped? bertfam Jan 10th, 08, 09:54 PM Craig, Either just above or right below the hole. Ed http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/bertfam/date.jpg smith69z Jan 11th, 08, 06:32 AM What would it mean if you have no dates, repros? Firewheel Classics Jan 11th, 08, 09:18 AM No, some weren't stamped ccmblack Jan 11th, 08, 09:51 AM Thanks, Ed othal Jan 11th, 08, 03:22 PM I called JUST DASHES and got a rough estimate before I shipped. Once they got them and inspected they called me with the price. My headrests were split on the bottom with the foam showing in lots of places. |
