View Full Version : Credit & thanks for my rotisserie!
GoEjrGo Jan 29th, 04, 07:33 AM I have to give credit to bonecrusher67 for my rotisserie. I couldn't have done it without his plans. I ended up using an old hoist we had at work, bought two hyd cylinders and some scrap tubing. Total $200, welding practice Priceless!
Now I can get busy on the body. I couldn't directly link to hobbystage but check my sig, last pics, to see it.
Thanks again bonecrusher67.
Love this site graemlins/beers.gif

prostreet69camaro Jan 29th, 04, 02:08 PM Looks like you did a great job. Do you use the jacks to raise the car so you can turn it and work on it. How can I get the plans to the rotessiere.
hugger_sixty_nine Jan 29th, 04, 04:10 PM Good job on the rotisserie Joe. Looks great to me. I borrowed one from a friend but had to enlist some help fabricating mounting brackets as I ain't no welder. The car spins right around and clears the support gussets and my roof on the garage by 1/4". I had to try and centre it perfectly to get it to turn completely and it turned out great. The hardest part was lifting the car to the height that it mounts to the supports at.
Take a look at my web site http://www.x33d80.com and go to the Rotisserie tab to see it.

GoEjrGo Jan 30th, 04, 05:59 AM Yeah I just raise the cylinders on each side until I have the centers at least 41" above the cross over beam. It is slightly topheavy but that is because I still have the doors and deck lid on. Best way for plans is to do a search on bonecrusher67 rotisserie. He has some pretty detailed plans using two engine hoist. I was lucky having an old battery hoist to start with, if not I would have went with exactly what he did. Hugger_sixty_nine I agree, I hard the hardest time getting it up to the mounting height, glad the wife didn't mind helping. Not looking forward to getting it back down.
Codi Jan 30th, 04, 06:48 AM Vewry nice tool. It looks like you did a fine job. Can't wait to see the finished Camaro. By the way, whats the bush in the garage?
GoEjrGo Jan 30th, 04, 08:46 AM Codi, funny you noticed that. When I took the pic I wondered if someone would. Would you believe that is an orange tree from a seed I planted when I was 4, which makes it 34 years old. It is in bad shape though the cold got it last fall.
BowtieSquid Jan 30th, 04, 03:58 PM If you guys skipped a look at Hugger 69's website go back and take a look....The intro is awesome.
Pretty damn slick....Think you've got a job waiting in advertising somewhere.
hugger_sixty_nine Jan 30th, 04, 07:56 PM Thanks Jeff,
I have always been into graphics and design. I am more the visual type that can tell when something has eye appeal. By the way, if you know someone at GM i'd love a job in marketing. ;)
Maybe I could relaunch the Camaro if I got in there and bring back a limited production run of a new version 69 Retro Camaro. Hell, maybe even a Rallye Green Z28 (lol)
Thanks for the compliments but the wife is a web master and she built most of it. I just added design and content here and there, and maintain it now that the HTML coding is done. Fun though!
BowtieSquid Jan 31st, 04, 04:47 AM lol....
No such luck w/GM. I fly for good 'ol Uncle Sam's sea service. I think their website intro is pretty decent too

but your's gives it a run for the money.
GoEjrGo Jan 31st, 04, 04:12 PM I agree, Hugger_69 that is definately one awesome website. I like that rotisserie especialy the rear mount point. I think that might be better than the bumper mount. Not to mention nice 69. I will be sure to stay tuned to see the end. I hope mine turns out half as nice. First one - learn as I go.
hugger_sixty_nine Jan 31st, 04, 05:30 PM This one was going to get a rear mount similar to yours but I screwed up measuring it and it was made a bit too big. Then I took the one that came with the rotisserie, measured it and found it would work. It was then modified a bit for the Camaro body rather than a Mustang and was modified to fit the rear and the spring perches for added support.
Thanks for the compliments on the web site and just be sure not to rush your car. Once its on there, it is quite easy to do a beautiful job on the under carriage. Take the time and do it right. It's always worth it when you can show the bottom and the top side of the car both. Most importantly. Have fun doing it. I am!
GoEjrGo Feb 2nd, 04, 04:11 AM I think the rear spring mount is more solid. The bumper mount makes me nervous. Especially when jacking up both sides. I have to do it a little at a time so as not to bend anything. It is hard not to rush. I should have never drove it before I took it apart. But this is my dream car and I plan to have as much fun as possible. So far so good. Also good to know there is a place to come for advice and help.
bonecrusher67conv Feb 2nd, 04, 10:13 AM Hey, GoEjrGo you are certainly welcome.
I just switched ISP's, so I don't know how long that web server is going to be serving up those rotisserie photos. If HwyStarJoe wants to transfer the pictures onto this site, please do so.
The rear bumper mounting point actually worked out nicely and has not distorted the tail panel on either my convertible or the hardtop/parts car that I've had on it. It would be nice to have a second set of arms for the back mount, so that I can switch mounting points onto the spring holes. I'll be thinking about that next time I mount a body on my rotisserie.
Alas, my convertible is not done yet, as I've started a couple new business ventures last year. So, I have been checking in occasionally, but haven't contributed much to the board here. My life has gone to the dogs. We've opened a dog and cat boarding kennel on 5 acres in Arroyo Grande, CA and I took over 2 acres of mature avocado trees. The convertible sits awaiting final filler and body prep after two years of stripping and painting every small bracket, grafting original sheet metal here and there and 1 1/2 new floor pans. About 1/2 of the nuts and bolts have been bead blasted and replated, and the other half is a victim of lack of time. Somehow, replacing the 1200cc engine in my Manx type dune buggy got moved up the priority list and I’m about ready to drop a 1.8L 914 engine in it. I really need to get my paint booth enlarged and get the convertible painted this summer. In the meantime, I've been pacified with my plain jane daily driver 67 hardtop. It definitely has the best stereo of any car in our family right now.
HwyStarJoe Feb 2nd, 04, 10:36 AM Scott, here's your original post with pics and dimensions. Are they the latest and final specs?
http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=002845#000000
bonecrusher67conv Feb 2nd, 04, 02:25 PM Yes HwyStarJoe
I have not changed any of the specs from that posting. I'm in the process of getting some Web space from an ISP that will be doing my hosting for my new business. Once I get familiar with the new ISP, I'll comeback and update the links, but it might take a couple months.
GoEjrGo Feb 3rd, 04, 07:30 AM Bonecrusher I can't thank you enough for providing those plans. Glad you saw this cause I wanted to give you the credit for it. It would have been a lot more than a couple of weekends if I hadn't had your plans to look at. I think more people would love to have HwystarJoe put it on the site. I think your right about the bumper mount. The more I think about it I am sure more than one person jacked the backend up on these cars to get the tires off the ground 30 some years ago. I can relate to your priority list. Come spring I will be back on the "honey do list" of a new driveway and front porch. Good luck and thanks again. Just to let you know how accurate your dimensions are I started with the rear and then leveled the body and cut the front drops last, came out right at 9 1/4". Just a little top heavy but I still have the doors and deck lid on. By the way do you think I can get away with patching floor pans while it is on it? I will only be cutting out each small "foot" section at a time. Would you leave it level during that? Hope your new ventures turn out well.
