Hey guys,

I am going to start looking for a junked out '68 convertible very soon to start a total rebuild in 2008. I have only had experience with coupes, so I am wondering what parts are not being reproduced in the market just yet?

Seems like I read or heard the 'cocktail shakers' aren't available?

I do plan on making the car an RS/SS, much prefer the '68 year.

Any and all replys are appreciated!:)

You're going to run into a few things that are no longer made. Don't think that rear vert 1/4's are avail yet... but they might be now? The coupe ones can be made to fit. Certain other parts like switches are being retroed, but do not look like the orig, so you will have to pay a premium buck and to go places like "D&R" to get them (if they can get them!)...and if you can get a front chromed window header in great shape go for it!... the repro is not fun to fit on.

Otherwise you will find most parts can be found...at a price.

D&R has repro convert quarters. Saw them at Carlisle. The weatherstrip channels on the A pillar are not reproduced.

Thanks for the update on the quarters, Shoddy... will pass this on. Brad at D&R can scrounge up most things... if given time.

You can shorten a Coupe A-pillar channel. I did a couple.

I am looking for the metal "braces" that attach inside the space between the quarter panel and the top of the inner structural panel about at the back end of the quarter window. It is welded to the inner structure, I'm not sure how it attached to the quarter (if it even does(?). I'm not sure what these even do. My left side piece was removed long ago during body work, and the right side piece was cut in half by my current shop--and of course, the cut off half went away to the scrap heap before we noticed. Does anyone now the name of this piece, know a source, or have a template to recreate it?

I found the brace in mine to be almost glued to the rear quarter panel (exterior skin) The other ends were welded to the inner structure.. I've never seend them offered. Never checked to see if coupes had them or not
