I just wanted to thank everyone for helping me with my grill dilema a few weeks back, I FINALLY got in. New question. When I took my headliner out months ago I didn't realize that each of the 5 bows were different. Now I have no idea which one goes where. 2 are 46 1/2 inches, one is 44 1/4 inches, one 48 3/8 inches and the last is 49 inches. I am assuming the 44 1/4 inch goes in the middle as it doesn't have any sharp bends on the ends like the others. There are also 3 holes to choose from for each end of each bow. Someone told me they vary from car to car and I will need to try all of them and see which one tightens up the headliner the best. But if someone can possibly tell me the order the bows go in it would be a tremendous help. Thanks again all.

Thanks JR, I checked out that post and it cleared up which bows go where, but did throw another wrench into the mix. He said the color codes tell you which direction they go in? Mine have some paint on them but nothing that really matches the colors he talked about. Each bow looks the same on each end when I flip them 180 degrees, so it doesn't make sense to me that they would go in left to right.

I don't think it matters. I think the color code was to tell the line worker which rod went where.

My colors were barely visible either but I just went by length.
What I neglected to do was to mark which holes were used for the bows so I just used the ones that looked like there was a bow jiggling around in there for 38 years.
Before you slide them into your headliner clean them up then spray some furniture polish on them and they will not only slide in nice but it will help when you go to stretch the headliner.

The holes for my headliner bows were a little larger than the others, so it was pretty easy to see which one to use. I did end up using a different set of holes on one of the bows to get it a little tighter. You may have to experiment a few times to see which holes work best for your car. Good luck!

The colors dont make a difference, that is just the way mine came out and I made note of it. I wanted to document the colors just in case it did make a difference, but it appears it does not. The center rod that is held in by the "sharks teeth" is the first one you will have to put back in.
