Assembly came with differential cover slightly bolted on. Gasket was in place and lube had leaked onto the gasket. Got 6" of the gasket "wet" with lube. Am I correct in thinking that the RTV will not stick to the "wet" part of the gasket?

Tried a Felpro 12 bolt gasket but it does not line up. Any ideas other than getting a new gasket from Moser?

Oh, and the 'complete' assembly came without the axle c-clips! Five parts stores later I finally found them at the good ol' Chevy dealer.

Thanks,

Danny, the c clips should have been in a baggy. As for RTV, you should not need any, but if you want to use something I would clean the gasket with paint thinner, or carb cleaner, or brake cleaner, and use super weather strip adhesive, not RTV. RTV will get slippery and almost certainly leak later.

Searched high and low for the clips. Nada!

Moser said RTV on the gasket. Their instructions are not the best. Do you think the gasket only will be sufficient?

i would not even use the gasket and use high temp silicone on the cover. also of course clean the cover and diff of oil.

I can confirm that Moser does NOT send c-clips with a new rear...even a brand new complete rear with c-clip axles and Eaton posi. Kinda silly but that's the way it is!

BGH and I had a "discussion" with them a couple years ago after I bought a 12 bolt from them for one of my Camaros.

BTW, you should be OK with a little RTV on the gasket.
