Thanks for all the advise, I made a trip to my locally hightly recommended trans shop. They said they could do Turbo 350 or a 700? The difference is the 700 would have the forth gear or overdrive to save gas and since daily and freeway driven. My choice. Only $300 more and they will cut the drive shaft in the process. I am leanin towards the 700 for the extra I may get. I will never get rid of my baby so seems worthwhile? So what do you think of the 700?

Thanks a bunch!

I personally like the 2004r because it bolts right up and the only thing you have to mod/change is the croossmember. The driveshaft even bolts up without any changes. Check with BTO for a crossmember & Shiftworks for the shifter upgrade. BTO also has the TV cable etc. I've heard 700r4's need a little massaging on the tunnel to get them to fit but i'm not positive on that because i've never done it. Hope this helps.

Here's a secound for the TH200-4R
Much easier to install and better gearing for most street driven cars.

Go for the overdrive regardless. The 700 will be fine. The price tells me they have one they need to get rid of, and it sounds like a good deal. You could not buy the driveshaft mods, crossmember, and shifter mod for $300.

IF - they are offering you a TH700-R4 upgrade v.s. the TH-350 for only $300 more, then I would go for that.
But, I can't for the life of me see how they can offer you that. The cost of the Crossmember and shifter conversion are that much ...
Throw in the driveshaft mod (@$80~100 normally for me) and re-balance and they seem to be losing money without the cost of the trans.
Don't forget you need to modify the throttle linkage assembly to accomidate the TV cable.

As others mentioned $300 wouldn't even cover the cost of the crossmember, driveshaft mod, tv cable, etc, etc? Also what components were used in the rebuild of the 700 trans? It just sounds to good to be true...

I would love the overdrive gear versus my 350, but my motor could not handle the low first gear of the 700r. I would be forced to go the 200 route. Good Luck & enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

Just got baby back, I had them put in the 700TR trans and things are good. I am pleased as I they put all linkages including missing downshift, modified everything and even put a shift kit in too. Getting used to the multi shifts as I previously only had one. Takes off much faster and seems like my motor has more power. Things are good. Now I got to get to work on all my other body and interior stuff.

Thanks to you all!
