I'm finally in the test drive phase of my restoration and my wife suggested picking a theme song for the car. We chose Kashmir for the timeless reference to Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Then we decided to make a CD for our first official cruise in a few weeks. I'm looking for songs that "thump" and are from the pre-90's era when music was actually worth listening to. So far I have:

Kashmir - Led Zepplin
Moving In Stereo - The Cars
Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith
Dragging The Line - Tommy James

Looking for some more suggestions. Surely some of you out there have a favorite that fits the bill. :beers:

Trampled Underfoot - Led Zeppelin

Was listening to that today (CD) as I was cruising for an hour or so :).

I've got a fairly large collection of CDs, but I usually carry about 10 CD's I ripped from my collection that have various artists such as:
Pink Floyd - Run, Comfortably Numb, Dogs, Sheep, It's Not Enough, etc..
Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand, Trampled UF, Song Remains, 10 Yrs Gone....
Nazareth - Hair of the Dog
Styx - Choice old cuts
Rush - Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Ghost of a Chance, 2112, ........
Nugent - mostly Double Live Gonzo
AC/DC - various, but mostly older selections
Scorpions - Love at First Bite
Steely Dan - Mostly Gaucho & Asia, but love em' all

That's pretty much it. I'm the kinda guy who will often keep the same CD in for even weeks at a time :).

Lots of great tunes thrown out there, and while I didn't use many of them it did get me thinking. Here was the final list:

1. Kashmir - Led Zepplin
2. Moving in Stereo - The Cars
3. Draggin' The Line - Tommy James
4. Pump It Up - Elvis Costello
5. Cat Scratch Fever - Ted Nugent
6. No More Tears - Ozzy Osbourne
7. Lick It Up - KISS
8. Tom Sawyer - Rush
9. Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
10. Everybody Wants You - Billy Squire

and here is where the wife's list got added

11. Best of Both Worlds - Van Halen (never heard this one before but I liked it)
12. Grease - Frankie Valli (actually, it's my favorite song of all time)
13. Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield (I know...but I also know what's good for me)
14. Little Deuce Coupe - Beach Boys (see comment after Jessie's Girl)
15. You're So Vain - Carley Simon (it's slow but at least it's a timeless classic)
16. Roll Me Away - Bob Seger (great one to finish with)

Thanks for everyone's feedback.
