In the process of changing my scattershield and going back to a stock 621 bell housing. During the change, I want to change the flywheel because it has a chipped tooth (at least one)
I have a 70 Nova that has a 454, Muncie M-20. Making about 500 HP.
Choices are
1. Stock GM flywheel 168 tooth steel external balance $193.00
2. Hays 168 Tooth steel external balance $245.00
3. Centerforce 168 tooth steel external $306.00

All the above are steel 2 piece. Is it worth paying extra for either the Hays or Centerforce. I dont go to the track, but do like to get on it once in a while.

heres some brand new also. alot cheaper.a stock flywheel will be fine since you not racing just getting on it once in a while.

I have the external CF one and I believe its about 8-10 lbs. heavier than stock. If that makes any diff to you.

Some flywheels have a replaceable starter ring, just replace the ring if yours comes off. It's easy to heat and remove, then heat the replacement and drop it on. Most machine shops can do it if needed.

David's right-on!

And the worse that could happen is that you MAY need ta roll pin it in say three or four spots!! Easy to do!!
