Just curious....do most of you guys use the #1 / #6 TDC method to adjust hyd rocker arms.....OR......adjust them while at IDLE and clean up the oil mess afterwards. I have tried the little clips, but still had oil run all out the sides.

I typically do the 1/6 method, but seem to always have one ticking. :(

Same here, always end up running them with the motor idling. I roll up a towel and stuff it on the headers, under the plug wires, it catches most of the mess. And don't rev the engine!!

If you have an old valve cover..you can cut it open to access the adjuster nuts at idle speed.

I set each cyl on it's TDC power stroke by observing for overlap on it's companion cyl. It has worked well for me.

BillK posted a neat little way awhile back, I'll probly never use it but I still like it. Loosen all of em a little. Put the eng on TDC 1 and snug all the loose ones. Roll it 360 and snug the other loose ones. Then preload all of them. Done.

I use the E.O.I.C. method most often.
