I'm getting ready to purchase a dash pad for my 69 and I've read nothing but letters from unhappy people with the OER dash pads. I see Ground Up sells PUI dash pads. Has anyone had any experience with the PUI pads? I'm just a little hesitant to go with the OER pad after reading the grief that so many people have had with them.

Poeple are right about the OER dash. I bought one earlier this year & it didn't even come close to fitting. I ended up selling it at a loss on ebay. I would recommend sending your original in to Just Dashes to be rebuilt. I took my original dash to a local guy & had it recovered. Turned out nice for the price? I did this before I knew about Just Dashes:yes:

Well I guess I have to be the odd person here, I replaced my stock orginal dash pad as it had warped so bad on the dash lip that it looked as if it was snarling.

I did go with a OER from Ricks but its been probably 6 years ago. Maybe something changed in the newer ones. The new pad even looked like it had the little "birth defect" on it. I have had it on and off several times lately , it still seems to be limber and follows the dash frame well.

Mine is an OER from Rick's the problem is not how mine fits the dash, it's just not wide enough. Doesn't go all the way out to the pillar post moldings. It leaves a gap between the pillar molding and the dashpad. I painted the exposed metal spot on my dash so it's not as noticable, but it's still pretty ugly in that spot IMO.

But if you don't have an original one what choice do you have? Don't have any experience with the PUI dashpad sorry.

I still have my orginal pad . When I put the Vintage air in, I cut the center for the vent as with this snarled front lip, I felt it was of no further use. I eventually got tired of looking at this snarl lip, I ordered the OER with the AC vent knotch. I have had this pad on and off with no width issues. Now the pillar posts from OER were a joke, too short, trim screws pull thru , too narrow. I repainted my orginals and put them back on. I have yet to find any new ones that fit and look like factory.
My door panels from PUI are just as old. From what I am seeing that comes out of the PUI store now, there is much differance in the trim lines across the panel. Mine are more pronounced and heat sealed and the newer ones appear to be ironed on.
I guess quaility just changes further down the road as time goes on.

Just Dashes is the way to go. My Dashpad fit perfectly and looked 100% Original.

Yes those OER pillar post have to be one of the worst repro parts I bought. Especially if you have a set of originals to compare them to. I have my originals but they are badly cracked. Still looking for a good used set.

My OER dash pad fit good no problems. But I second the OER pillar post pads. I cracked the upper part by the screw hole just by tightening the screw??? I have to live with it for now and it sucks! So I just dont look there!!!

The OER 69 pads Ive installed have been fine.

The gap between the pad and the a-pillars is normal. Shouldnt be excessive, but will be noticeable. They weren't a tight fit originally.

The OER pad with AC I installed last summer from Ricks seems to fit just fine on my 69. Has a little smooth texture issues in spots that I realy dont like to much.

last winter I installed my OER dashpad without any problems.
it was kinda tight but after 1 day in the sun it relaxed.
I heard they redesigned their tooling for a better fit.
