Thanks for helping me understand the choke setup, and I think I am going to relocate the ground from the carb to a real ground.

I went out and did a WOT to almost redline and could hardly keep the thing running after that. I'm not as familiar with Ed's as I am Holleys.....but it was just like when a secondary needle will stick and flood the back barrels. Is it possible to suck the choke shut for a minute on a WOT pass??? Can that metering thing in the back get stuck??? I pulled off the road and feathered it until I got it to smooth out, but there was a lot of blue smoke in the back. My buddy suggested tying the choke open and driving it to eliminate that possibility. It just seems like something is getting stuck open at WOT....but I'm not sure what to look for on these carbs. Thanks guys

This would not happen with a Holley and I dont think it should happen with a Eddy . I dont lilke the Eddy but favor the older AFB stuff. I think you still dont have the choke set up as you should. You should set it in cold position, leaving about 1/4" opening on the flapper. You adjust the choke coil to the right setting and leave it. The immediate power to the coil will do its job then pull off, or should, if not something is wrong. I have seen where the coil inside has been on the wrong side of the choke tab. You have to remove the choke cover to see how it works..
If you did a redline run with the choke still hung, it would pull extra fuel into motor for sure if not kill it.

The choke ground should work even tied back into a screw on the carb.
