Would a 1999 vortec 350 make a good core for building a carbed stroker 383?

This is a factory roller motor so I guess you are ahead. What is the casting stampon side of block?

I don't know yet. It came out of a 1999 2500 hd crewcab. What should I look for?

First off , if you open it up, you may find it has a roller cam setup that can be used with many other cams. I think the rest of the motor is basic one piece seal motors that lots of aftermarket stuff can be exchanged. Maybe someone that has one of these can share some input? I don't recall what a 99 should have.

If it has the "tripple triangle" heads cast# 062 these are the best heads. It would be a great motor to build.........If you decide not to use the heads please pm me.

Thanks for the info, I think I will be using the heads, That is the reason for wanting the motor.

It should be a 4 bolt main block too. The 2500 and bigger get the "heavy duty" Vortec, where the 1500 gets the light duty (2 bolt main) version.
