Wow... I can't thank you guys enough for the well wishes. That's what's so great about this community. :beers:
I'd like to extend the same to everyone at TC.... all 35,400 of you. May 2008 be everything you hope it will be!

I finally popped on tonight for the first time in a while and what do I see? THE THREAD THAT WILL NEVER DIE! Everytime I mow the yard or look over to where I started digging, I'm reminded because I didn't level the dirt very well when filling the trench in.
Someone mentioned saving all that aluminum as a retirement booty.... good idea! Especially since I'm retiring from the military this year. I'll have my 20 years the end of this month!!!! WOOHOO!! This is a young mans game and my youth disappeared a while ago. ;)

By the way... I'm not in Iraq. ;) But I am with the 82nd for the time being. It's winter here finally.... wet and cold. Not the best weather for working outdoors but hey, whatta ya gonna do? Everything is going well. I'm still on the night shift so I've developed a cats eyesight...even at my age. It's kind of weird functioning by flashlight\headlamp alone, month after month. Our crews fly as often as the weather permits, and our maintenance guys even impressed the big, bad 82nd Airborne with their skills. The amount of cargo and troops we've moved so far is staggering and we're only halfway thru.

I told myself I wouldn't count the days, but that went to hell a while ago. I mark them off on a calendar. Fortunately time is flying by! :) I hope to be home by early summer to find Chip Foose standing in my driveway. Ya think? A man can dream can't he? I spent a couple hours one day not long ago with a Ricks catalog and a calculator to see just what parts I need to get the Camaro just to the point of getting inspected and roadworthy. It's a good thing they're not taxing us while over here! I'm gonna need every extra penny I can save. That is if the wife doesn't take me up on my offer to remodel the house this summer. Priorities, right?

Thanks again folks! Love y'all! Looking forward to getting back to the garage and my family!

On the longest camping trip of my life,
Joe
