And yes, I had stingray bikes...complete with sissy bars and banana seats, and even extended forks. Maybe it was a regional thing? We rode wheelies so much that I could shift gears on my 10 speed while riding one. I eventually learned to ride a unicycle. No safety gear back then, and I've got a few scars to prove it. ragtop69 Jan 6th, 08, 09:36 AM never had one,did have a bike with banana seat high bars.i guess a willie bar would have help a couple of times, like when front wheel came off when i was rideing a wheelie when a car load girls load of girls pass by.:o jackr Jan 6th, 08, 09:44 AM Saw this yesterday on craigslist. Missing the whammo wheely bar thing though http://phoenix.craigslist.org/bik/521908597.html Remember the "slicks" for these. This one still has. JOE58 Jan 6th, 08, 10:09 AM Schwinn ran 70s drag racing ads showing Stingray bikes with "diggers" in the ad. They sold bike acc like wheelie bars, drag slicks, etc and even one that deploys a parachute. zuma Jan 6th, 08, 10:30 AM I remember them but no one in our neighborhood ever had one...we did it the old fashion way, hold the wheelie, or walk the wheelie, I used to walk the wheelie for blocks...I had several stingrays and I still own about 5 of them...I do see them come up on Ebay every once in a while thou, and they are not cheap...Anyone remember the varoom by matel?
