Real men (age 10) didn't need no stinking Wheely bars :)

To tell you the truth, I don't remember that product at all. And yes, I had stingray bikes...complete with sissy bars and banana seats, and even extended forks. Maybe it was a regional thing?

Never seen that before. Born in '71 and grew up living all over the country. One thought - can you imagine an advertiser today showing kids doing stuff like riding bearfoot, standing on the seat, not wearing a helmet, and the like? No way.

I was born in '61, had a Schwinn stingray, but never saw that product before. We rode wheelies so much that I could shift gears on my 10 speed while riding one. I eventually learned to ride a unicycle.
No safety gear back then, and I've got a few scars to prove it.

Schwinn ran 70s drag racing ads showing Stingray bikes with "diggers" in the ad.
They sold bike acc like wheelie bars, drag slicks, etc and even one that deploys a parachute.

I remember them but no one in our neighborhood ever had one...we did it the old fashion way, hold the wheelie, or walk the wheelie, I used to walk the wheelie for blocks...I had several stingrays and I still own about 5 of them...I do see them come up on Ebay every once in a while thou, and they are not cheap...Anyone remember the varoom by matel?
Here is a picture of my 1965 rays;
