I have a 68 with mono leaf. My wheels sit inside of the top of quarters/underneith the car. The problem is the tire hits the driver side quarter at the 10 o clock position, like its flexing foward, only when i hit a hard bump. Its not rubbing its hitting! It has atleast 1 inch clearance from the tire to the quarter at ride height with me in it. Its not sliding on the pearch and everything is tight, except the rear shackle bushings have a little play. I am thinking the shackle would not have anything to do with my problem. Does the mono leaf have this problem, flexing foward. Its almost like they are wrapping up. I dont want to use a different tire. I was thinking a set of Cal tracs would cure this problem. I have to fix this i am ready for paint.

Even with Caltracs, you need to make sure ALL bushing are on the money. You need to examine side to side movement of this rear end also. Get some good Koni or Qual shocks.

You could also think about going to Multi-leaf too. 4 leafs would be plenty.

I do plan on replacing the shackle bushings, and eventually geting the Caltracs bars and qa1 shocks. I will be bracket racing in the future. I have to get it right with what i got for now. The springs have been arched and it sits nice. I dont want to have to buy new leaf springs.

Mono's and slappers that slap right under the middle of the spring eye's are fine up until PROBABLY a 10.+ second car, imho!!

When set up/TUNED RIGHT..........................

I ran my old homemade one's along w/ coil-over helper overload springs on my car and spent like a decent Sat. afternoon tuning them, both side to side slap clearance and height preload!!

Sucker would leave like a "Rabbit outta the Dog-Track chute" everytime!!

I dont want to get off subject about what works and what dont. Is the Monos flexing/wraping up or what?
