Might be a good thing but it needs to be available in many areas or have many distributorships to get price down. Currently about $5 more per 5 gal jug when compared to Penn or Rotella.

And, still more than BMW motorcycle oil, which has a much better additive package, and higher Zn/P (ZnDDP [Zinc Dialkyldithiosphosphate]) and way more than many other higher Zn/P concentrate oils available at your local auto/truck/motorcycle parts house.

What weight oil is the BMW oil? Why not just buy Valvoline VR-1 10W30 or 20W50?

30 (something) years of working with chemicals will give you a clue at how to pronounce, class and fear many of them ...
Sure do miss those 1,1,1-di/tri-clorofloromethanes

Gary, it's available in most popular weights - like 10-40w, 10-50w and 20-50w.
I tend to use the 20-50w mostly in both my truck and boats.
I do like the Valavoline "non-street-legal" oils still, but they are only available at a few places locally and I fiqure they are only gonna get harder to find as time goes on.
A good buddy is a dedicated bike rider and races in USAC also - he's a die-hard oil fanatic and does lots of analysis on his oils (guess those old pilot habits die slowly ;) ) - I use him for lots of info I get on oils and performance use feed-back.
btw - BMW oils are producted for them by Golden Spectro - http://www.spectro-oils.com/ - so if there is a dealer nearby anyone, they may be an alternate source. (note: to closest CA dealer I know of is in So.CA.)
They also make lots of specialty oils for Snow-Mobiles, Boats and other tought use vehicles.
Any comments on oils are always JMHO's
