You guys with dynamat experience, how much does it take to cover the floors and the inside doors? begining to re-assemble the interior soon, so i would like to know how much to order.

I used 4 sheets (3' by 5'?) on the last coupe I did. Did the doors, rear sides, floor and stuck pieces in a few other places such as around the package shelf and kick panel area. Didn't have any left over so you should be safe with unless you plan on doing the trunk or other areas.

I'd agree with the 60 sq ft number - I used a little more than that for my Chevelle. I you don't mind I'd like to suggest an alternative to Dynamat. I got some stuff called "Fatmat" off of Ebay that works very well. It was $1 per square foot which is MUCH cheaper than Dynamat.

I agree with Kevin.... Dynamat is WAY over priced. There are several good, cheaper alternatives... Brown Bread, FATMAT, RAAMat, etc..... just as good and alot cheaper. With Dynamat you pay alot more because its a well recognized brand name...... save you money and get more material at a lower price.

Hey NHRA - I don't have a problem with any of the 'use a cheaper' brand recommendations - BUT no not use anything that has paper or cloth materials (even if it's "encapsulated" in plastic or foil) in your car. You live in a 'wet' area of the US and it will cause big time rust problems in areas you install it in.
I have had excellent results with the 'High-priced' stuff and don't mind spending more for something that I know works and I won't have to do again.

I have a box of "DEATH MAT" about 100' of it waiting to get installed. Cost about $130. Its black matting is a stiff tar like product with a sticky pull off membrane to remove as you install with foil top. It looks like great stuff when installed.
This photo is from guy I bought the mat from. I like the way it goes in.

I'm in the middle of doing my car with Brown Bread(b-quiet.com)70 sq feet-$184.95 to my door.Goes easy, softens up real nice with a heat gun,(after its in place) and sticks like crazy. And really notice the thud sound instead of the dink sound of a metal can.Not the cheapest, and not the highest in price. looks like I should have plenty. Well, i am only 15, so i would prefer a cheeper brand that will proform as well. Where did you guys that used the "FATMAN" get it? how does it proform? and how does it stick? It is going to be a summer school car, and when im not racing the chevelle, it will race it. So its mainly to just maintain a comfortable interior atmosphere.

Also any other brands, recomendations, or comments are welcome.

Just to clarify, Click did not purchase the sound deadner from me, I only provided the name and contact info of the person that I purchased it from. I used almost 100 Sq ft in my convertible (pictured above)...It is really critical to place it up under the dash for maximum effect, and to prevent mucho engine noise from invading your nice quiet cockpit... smile.gif

How heavy is that Death Mat stuff? It looks nice, and (time permitting) I'm going to be doing the interior of my '68 this summer. It looks like it conforms very nicely.

As close as I can see in the garage, its less than 1/16th thick. The foil reflects heat and the black matting softens the noise I guess like other products. It sure molds around body parts and floor pans nicely.

Can anyone chime in with some before and after thoughts on dynamat...Etc. type products. The inside of my car gets extreamly hot and Noisey. Does it really cut down on the heat and noise? If so how much.

NHRA the phone and address are in my post above. I have not installed it yet, that pace car in the pic is CrossRam's car. I like the feel of the stuff in the box. Very flexible. With the tear off plastic clear sheet, you can cut it, spot it and then remove the plastic to stick it.

Would it be necessary to put sound deadener on the dash or on the doors?
