Are the 5 speeds the GM use made by Tremec, also are the 5 speeds that are in the s10 car transmissions?

I don't think any transmissions used by GM are made by Tremec.

The transmissions in S-10's are light duty T-5's if I remember correctly. Not something you'd want to put behind a V-8.

No 5 speeds that I know of. I believe the T56 6 speed is a tremec. If you are looking for a cheap 5 speed, there isn't one.

And there's nothing wrong with a T5, depends on what you're using it for (how much horsepower /torque does it have to handle?)

I had one in my Mustang 5.0 and couldn't break it. Made me get on for my camaro

You're not going to "break one" with a 5.0, as they're rated to handle 500hp with a regular drive shaft. They sell aluminum shafts if you have a higher HP rating. Forgive me if the stang 5.0 is over 500hp .

A T-5 out of an S-10 isn't rated for 500hp. If that were the case, everyone would have one. I think they're rated more like 250.

If you stop using the clutch you will.... ;)
It was bone stock, except for a set of rear gears and wheels tires. Totalled it before I could do anything to it

The recent Camaros used a Tremec T56, Corvettes use a Tremec, the new Camaros that are coming out use Tremecs.
Ford Mustangs and Dodge Vipers also use Tremecs.
