I am getting ready to put a M20 in my 68 and need some info or help. I really dont know which flywheel or clutch kit to buy. I want to buy all my parts first because I have access to a lift and tranny jack but, just over the weekends and not near my home. I crawled under the car today and got the numbers off the bellhousing and flywheel. Sould I figure a 11 in. or 10.5? What fly wheel is this #3714463 or 83 and bellhousing # 464697. Will this bellhousing work for the 11 in? Also note - I am running a 350 with staggered bolts on the starter.

It appears that it's a 168 tooth 11" flywheel and that's the/a correct bellhousing for that application. I'm thinking it will take the standard type clutch, but someone else might correct me on that one.

Staggered bolt starter, 11" stuff.

I have a pair of "ground-off head" main bolts from some engine(?) that I use for guide pins when I install my 4-speed, so you might want to make up a pair that are about 5" long or so..

Great help to me!!

Had them for longer than I can remember..

I put them hand tight one above the other on one side so I can shake it into the pilot bushing easy......

Thanks for the info. I just want to be able to order the parts one time. Once the car is apart, I have to finish it that day. The numbers do match up for an 11 In? Thats what I will be ordering then.

PDQ 67 - I have taken your advice on more than one occasion but am lost to what your getting at. I have dowel pins on the motor for the bellhousing to line up. Are you refering to that? I will be dropping the old tranny out so it shouldnt be a problem getting it to line back up, plus it will be on a lift.

He is referring to guides to help you hold that trans up to bell housing and slide in place, they can get heavy trying to stab. Did I miss, Pdq?

ZDLD - O.K. I understand. I will have the car on a lift (not mine) and have a tranny jack for that. That will make it easier. Thanks though.
