I am planning on having my car painted this winter, I hope. The car was originally teal metallic thus all door jambs etc are original color. All my 1/4 panels, hood, door skins etc are new now. Should the car be painted assembled, or with doors off and front end on? Should the whole thing be painted in pieces then reassembled?Just looking for some insight here. Thanks!

I would cut in the jambs and those areas not accessable once the sheetmetal is on. If you had to, just scuff those areas that have the over spray to BC/CC the rest of the car. Makes such a nice overall job, and you will be glad you did it this way after you are all done.

I just did my car look at the "hows my basecoat look"
I painted with the cowl off and rear spoiler.
I jammed the car prior to major painting.
came out perfect.
one problem with doing car in pieces is that youll always end up with chipped paint somewhere.

If you want the car painted the way the factory did, it has to be apart. All the front sheetmetal was painted and then assembled on the car. The doors and trunk lid were on when the body was painted. Roger
