Well, according to my AIM, I have the correct GM auto shifter cable. #3956765

However, the grommet has no lip to retain itself to the sheetmetal. Instead are 3 holes as if to screw it in place.
The '69 AIM makes no mention of using screws in UPC M35-A9 or UPC D55 (console installation).

Also, there are no dimples or holes around the hole for the cable. This is a factory auto car with console/floorshift option.

Is the correct grommet available or is it now considered the norm to drill and screw the grommet in place?

That is the correct grommet, at least for a 68. 69 will be same
It does screw down with 3 hex head sheetmetal screws.
Picutre in my 68 aim, m35-a9, is same as yours.

The one I just purchased has 3 tabs to bend under the sheet metal to hold in place. No provision for screws. It's not original though. I can take a pic if you like.

Thanks MadMax, but no need if it's not the same grommet that I have. ;)
Thanks Jim, I guess I'll get 3 screws.. It must be a revision that was made after the 1969 models.
