has anyone done this ?
what I am thinking about doing is to redo the outer rim of my new walnut wheel to make it look like an original one , these wheel's have nice looking spoke's , horn button , hub , all but the outer rim look's good , the thing about these is they are called wood wheel's but they were not actually wood they were (ARE) plastic , the new one's have a freaky woodgrain thing going on that the original's don't have , the outer rim of a 1967 wood wheel is just brown ?
anyway if anyone has tryed this let's hear about it ?

I looked into a similar problem with a repro wheel from OER...

I called Gary's Steering Wheel restoration, and they said that they could "re coat" the wheel to make it look like the original rosewood wheel. The cost was somewhere around $250.00.

Still cheaper and accepted by the judges at the Camaro Nationals...

I'm sure they can make it look like a real walnut wheel....

Let us know how it works....

I am the biggest do it myselfer that ever walked so I am gonna do this myself , I have seen in eastwood they sell the steering wheel resto kit to redo old cracked wheel's , mine is in perfect condition it just look's out of place once you look at an old one , I examined an old cracked original 67 wheel a while back and it should not be that hard to get a paint to match and another thing is that repo is way to SHINY the original ones have more of a semi gloss look , I will post pic's when I do this I just wondered if anyone else had done it and could tell me what they used and maybe some pic's ,,,,
