lol. what u do to the in side

Pretty much put inside back to factory appearing condition.Had a scaled down version of the back seat made with same pattern as front seats, all interior panels are factory reproduction, kinda think of it as "resto mod" but in a Pro Street car.

thanks for the pic. One thing i like about my cell is it sits low and I like that bc no problems filling it up

I wanted to post a picture of the fuel cell from my old Nova, just because I am suffering from Pro-Street withdrawal :(

:noway:It is a console from a 69 Camaro although the 68 and 69 consoles are identical. 67 consoles are different.I had the other color console top plate and wanted to see if I liked that color better than the 69 top plate,I didn't so I went with the 69 plate since it matches the rest of the dash, which is what you see in the other picture.

I got the trunk put back together with the new RS tail lights. My buddy tuned the sterio and it is kicking. Started to put the quarter glass in and had to stop.I didn't put the metal inside the quarters where it attaches to the sail panel because I didn't think it was needed but was wrong with that one.Put those in Tuesday seam sealed them painted the drip rail and those pieces of metal, painted a spot under the hood where the fill neck was hitting and painted one trunk hinge that was scratched today.Should be able to put quarter glass in this week and then I can finnish the interior. Then the only thing I have left is the exhaust and a front end alignment. Thanks for asking.Dave we might be able to talk about this in the new PS forum I think you might have got the ball rolling on this again, either that or there going to cancle the PT...lol...

Gonna be removing the engine next weekend to upgrade from a flat tappet cam to a roller cam and have the engine tuned on the dyno when all machine work is finished by The Performance Clinic. Never had a roller cam or any dyno work but I am lookin' forward to it!!!!!

Update....

Engine is now disassembled and being evaluated at The Performance Clinic. After consulting with Dave Middleton at "The Clinic" we are going with a solid roller cam with a lift of somewhere in the .630's to .640's.He said the cam would be similar to an oval track cam instead of a drag race style cam for durability and driveability as my engine will see different rpm's at any given time. Also lookin'for lots of midrange torque and horsepower in addition to the overall horsepower and torque. He suggested "high pressure oiling"roller lifters and not to use oil restricters. We are going to send the torque converter to Coan with a copy of the dyno results so they can rework it to match the engine's torque and horsepower curve.

Thanks Mike this gives me a little more confidence that my buddy was right.I think your the only one in TC that has not said to drain and flush and put dot 4. I think my next step is to try and bench bleed it wilwood said it has to be done on the bench that the pedal won't go back far enough to push the air out...Thanks for the vote of confidence Mike...

Update 3/26/08....

Engine work has now begun.Replacing pistons with lighter ones for more revs which requires a rebalance of rotating assembly.Replacing valves, springs, retainers and locks.Forged crankshaft was good.New oil pump and pick up.Essentially everthing from the pistons up will be replaced along with adding new roller cam and lifters. Should have the engine back from"The Clinic" by the middle of April. Lemons headers should be done by then as well.

Little more progress on the "Z".
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/82c1f2de.jpg
The edge of the fiberglass dash was wavy, had some flaws & needed to be the same thickness as the original padded dash. So, I ripped some signboard & glassed it to the inside edge of the dash.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/f560fda3.jpg
I used painters plastic (thin stuff) as a release.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/84833be1.jpg
I laid a thick bead of "kitty Hair' fiberglass filler along the mounting flange.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/e95b7bab.jpg
Screwed the dash back in place so the bead would conform to the groove to make a new form fitting edge on the dash
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/777d48e9.jpg
Trimmed the excess glass & plastic off when it started to set up, and let it set overnight so it would hold it's new shape.

FINALLY!!!! SOME NEW FRIENDS!!

Boy! Can i tell you about P/S vs PT... I sold my 67 PS Camaro in '02 and tried a few different models for a while (70 Chevelle, '56 Chev, 70 MC etc) But none would. I'm into Camaro's.

So i found this 2 door coupe i was going to rebuild, built a rotisserie, then put car on a jig and stripped it down to a shell and finally sold it to a friend who happened to stop by as i was sitting on the balcony trying to find a FAST way to sell it because i had found a 62k miles 1 owner 69 Convertible for a good price that morning... He bought the whole thing on the spot (i knew he wanted it for awhile but timing was weird that day!)

So, now i picked up that 'Vert. I started buying all my stuff to build a Bad A$$ PT car; C6 Z06 Brakes, 19 and 20" Forgeline wheels (20x13 w/345-25-20) om Pirelli P-Zero's, Air Ride susp, 6.0L T56 Trans, tube arms etc etc.

After getting some custom tubs and DSE frame connectors put in. I slowed down. I was beginning to have doubts about the orientation of the project. Usually when i get to this point, it takes the door. Thing was, i loved that car.

I have another buddy that started a similar 69 PT build a few months after me. Long story short. He bought everything i had PT wise (well almost).

I then decided i was going to keem my 'vert and Pro Street it! I had never seen a PS 'vert but was convinced it would look killer. Like i read in some of the preceeding posts, different sizes are now considered to be "ok" tire wise in using the term Pro Street. I'm running 30x13.5 ET streets now and the 28x4.5 front runners that go with them.

I got the wheels and tires with a package i got from a Florida Car i had brought up (i'm in Montreal area, Quebec-Canada) that i got as a complete running driving car the guy lost interest in.

It was all new just in need of paint and finish; a 1970 Monte Carlo--- w/ a 468 Big Block w/ Carillo rods, 990 Heads, solid Roller, Electric w-pump, hooker headers, 3.5" Flow mufflers and exhaust and an 8-71 Blower backed by a reverse TH400 and 4500 Torque and Inland driveshaft and a Strange spooled and axled 12 bolt.

It also had a hurst pistol grip and complete array of auto meter gauges, barry grant 280 fuel pump and all braided lines, Griffin Alum rad, yello top battery, the aforementionned wheels and tires etc etc all of which i took off the car and then Sold the rolling chassis (with a 10 bolt and steel wheels no less!) for the price i paid the car full (or so, all that stuff costs me not very much ok...:hurray:) and here i am, on my way to building my new PRO-STREET!!!
(well, its more of an old Super Street kinda style 'Cause of the tire size but you get the idea)

I then decided i'd need some serious stiffening not to make a pretzel out of this thing so we did this;
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08302.jpg

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08266.jpg

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08200.jpg

The rear side bars are bent to follow the top of the side window so when top is down they don't show that much and even when everything is dropped, the bars represent the curve as if it was still there some...

And this is the beast as it was in the MC;

I have had the Car completely sandblasted in out under front back xcept the 1/4's and is now all in DP90 epoxy. I filled the whole firewall (as i usually do, but kept the heater box just in case i decide to use it in a later PT change down the road in a few more years hehe...) The subframe is also filled and smoothed out, got some fabbed Valve covers, and some resto parts for the car etc etc .

Here's what it say's;(click on pic)

Put some volume!!! (hope you have good speakers...Sorry for the pop! It was a very cold morning and you know blowers and cold)

I kept the Air Ride Airbar and am modifying it to a crossmember to use on the car as a PS. I'm still going to buy the front shockwaves and complete system. Its supposed to be good on the track too, hey, its adjusteble just the same as coil overs...Just from the cockpit! I'm only worried about the trans brake...(?)

Car is going to be triple black with a cloth top (VERY nice!) and on the ground (obviously) and i was thinking of putting a hockey stripe on the side in RED but am now having some secound toughts about it, i have bought some wilwood brakes w/red calipers to blend a bit of red in the car but still, they will fit even if i don't stripe the car.

Lots of pics and looking forward to getting it done.

The bummer........ I'm on my back now and have been for over a month. I had a work accident in '95 and its back from time to time to haunt me. I was used to it over the years but now its real bad. I have like ants in my left leg all the time and can't even sit!! i have to lay all the time and it won't pass. My doc says he's going to have to operate me 'cause i have a nerve termination that is attained (squeezed) and if it stays that way i might lose use of that leg, so working on the car has become second. On top of that, i have my 3rd little girl coming in june (other 2 are 3 and 5 years old) so its a lot lately. If they can do it soon enough i might get the car into a roller and fire the motor in the Camaro before the next snow! I'm keeping motivated with my computer and really happy i found a Pro Street Thread (if no Forum) to help pass the days...

Sorry for the long post, but thats all i have to do :D and i had just read the first 21 pages so i felt all boosted up from reading yours.

Looking forward to sharing some more stories with you guy's!!!

I then decided i'd need some serious stiffening not to make a pretzel out of this thing so we did this;
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08302.jpg

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08266.jpg

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/Leadfoot1969/DSC08200.jpg

The rear side bars are bent to follow the top of the side window so when top is down they don't show that much and even when everything is dropped, the bars represent the curve as if it was still there some...

And this is the beast as it was in the MC;

Hey David,

I do have a real name...But if i tell you....

Thanks, i had tought about updating my sign a few times but like always, i start to read than shut down and think, "Oh damn, i wanted to change my sign...Next time", and so on and on. Here, its done and i added the NAME. I saw you guy's have it but isn't it kinda new this thing, seems before we didn't have it, or is it nobody used it?

Thanks for the welcoming. I do almost everything on my cars (from engine to paint) but not the cage. I have a friend that is deep into race car and custom choppers that did it.

Another friend bought one of those 300$ benders and we talked about starting a rock crawler project together only made out of tubing and LS2 powered. This might get me more active in this department!

Great to have PRO STREET forum, looking forward to seeing more members,

I got a chance to work on the "Z" for awhile today.
Got the dash bezel mounted. It was a pain since I had to tack weld the mounts in with the dash cover in place to keep the bezel in the right location. But, I got-r-done. Might work on the steering column next.

Gary,Looks like your making progress, very nice looking job your doing. Are you going to polish the bezel when your done,I bet that will be a job.Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
I talked to Frank at Prodigy and he told me to buy a cheap master and put it on to rule out it being the problem so off to Pep-Boys I go. I called him on a Sunday morning in desperation about my brakes and he picked up.First time talking to him, what a nice and knowledgeable fella even on a Sunday not the knowledgeable the nice part I mean.If I don't soon get these brakes fixed I think I'm going to shoot myself.

Thanks Dave. Not sure on the finish yet. I've been thinking maybe sandblast/clear coat the machined panels and polish the raised edges.

Gonna be removing the engine next weekend to upgrade from a flat tappet cam to a roller cam and have the engine tuned on the dyno when all machine work is finished by The Performance Clinic. Never had a roller cam or any dyno work but I am lookin' forward to it!!!!!

Update:D

Just a quick update on my engine. As of 5/06/08 the engine has been fired, valvetrain was broken in on the dyno and some dyno tuning is taking place. I received a phone call from Dave Middleton at The Performance Clinic and he informed me that my engine is currently making 648 HP and 602 ft p TQ. The engine can make more HP and TQ with a carb change. Dave at the "Clinic" recommends a change from 850 cfm to 1,000 cfm. I'm not havin' any success talkin' myself out of the carb change:noway::D. Oh, and then there's a torque converter change in the immediate future as well, Dave at the "Clinic" will be faxing the dyno results to Coan Transmissions and Converters very soon:D:D:D:hurray:

Yes I did!! 8 hour drive, one way!! My friend owns a 71 Chevelle with a 555 BBC built by the Performance Clinic in Dayton. He lives in Tipp City, OH. He won the 2003 Naturally Aspirated Category of the Dyno Challenge at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Lima, OH and was featured in Car Craft in 2003. so it was a "no brainer" for me for "The Clinic" to rebuild my BBC.They have been building custom engines for the last 35 years! When I get the Camaro home,I'll post some new pics of the engine with the serpentine pulleys and valve covers from "The Clinic"

How lucky you are Mike, gettin' to drive someone else's car!!!! Have fun at GoodGuys in July.
