: custom bent front to rear brake line routing

I am bending my own brake lines for my 67. I have already done all of the front, and I am getting ready to do the front to rear line.
My question is why did the factory bent line route to the outside of the frame rail, run down the subframe, and then cross over the rear frame rail and to the center of the car? Fuel line did the same thing.

I would prefer to come out of the master and just run along the inside of the subframe, then on past the subframe connectors to the rear rails, and over to the clip where the flex line attatches.

I have been told this could have been done for 3 reasons
1: to shield the lines from the exhaust
2: to protect the lines from a flywheel fragmentation
3: to make it easier to install as the car heads down the assembly line

I would also prefer to run my fuel lines the same way on the other side.
I don't really think heat would be an issue, I have a McLeod bellhousing so I am not worried about a clutch explosion. And finally my garage is not an assembly line, so inside the frame rails would obviously be easier for me, not to mention it would look cleaner from the outside of the car.

Is there anything I could be missing or not seeing. Any other reasons I should go through the extra trouble to route it to the outside as the factory did.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions
Chris

maybe easier to inspect it? or notice if something is outta the ordinary ? if its on the inside and its hanging you may not notice or something

Mav68erick, No I think you may have misunderstood. There is nothing hanging or in the way. Currently there are no brake lines on the car. I am trying to decide how I am going to reroute the lines.

Thanks

I am pretty sure they were routed that way for assembly purposes at the factory

I would route them however makes sense to you and stays out of harms way
