Need to repair or replace the flange on the end of my steering column. I read somewhere that they are pressed on and was wondering if anyone had changed theres and how i would go about removing it. If I can remove it where would I find a new one? I was thinking about getting it welded up but not sure if that would work. Any suggestions would be great. Here are a couple of pictures of the flange.

There are splines on the steering shaft. The stamped flange was pressed onto the splines. THEN a tool was inserted inside the end of the steering shaft and flared it out. The flange is really on there!

The flange looks OK to me. If you disassemble a few parts on the upper end of the steering column, you should be able to slide the steering shaft down and out the bottom.
