Hello all...on this '81 i'm working on...the last owner had parked it for a couple of years without removing the battery.
Needless to say what has become of the battery tray ;o)...but the metal below where the tray once was has also corroded to a see-thru.
Is there a patch panel that's readily available where I can just cut out the corroded metal at the front of the passenger side wheelwell, and either bolt-in or weld a patch , without having to take out or replace the entire wheelwell ?
Thanks~

Replace the wheel well,it will be better and easier than cutting and welding in a new piece.

I use the plastic boat battery boxes in my Camaro, to prevent leakage.they work well, and keep things in check.
Just my two cents http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the input...a new wheelwell, or at least a decent used one sounds like the ticket. And I just missed the swap meet down at Englishtown Raceway Park (N.J.) this past weekend. Oh well, looks like i'll have to mail order one. When I did my 69 up, I got a good used one from D&R Camaro.
Dang, I wish the prior owner would have looked after that battery. What a MESS.
Thanks again..

BTW, Tom, I see your from sunny Manasquan !
One of my favorite old haunts, back in the day. I'm up here in Rahway...did you make the swap meet, and if so, is it still as good as it was a few years back ? (In terms of size, items, crowd, women... http://www.camaros.net/forum/redface.gif) )
I haven't been able to make it for the past four or five years.
