Ordered a new Continental "tight" 10" converter today. These converters are what alot of the Pontiac and Buick guys run. Supposed to be very tight at cruise but flash between 3000-3200 behind my combo. Should work well with my small cam/heads/3.55 geared 408. I needed a tighter converter because of my GV overdrive and my old one was just a bit to loose for it.

Will do Doug...Im hoping it does not lose much in the 60 foot but pick up a bit of MPH at the track. Mainly want it to be tighter around town and on the highway. Should work really nice with a small 75-100HP nitrous hit.

Got my car back up and running yesterday with the new converter. MAN.....does it feel nice. So much better at part thottle. It feels like my wifes BMW at part thottle just ALOT faster! I can now feel all my shifts and its locks down nice and tight in overdrive. But...it still flashes up nice! I need to get it to the track to see it picks up or slows down. But it sure feels better!

Very cool!

I pulled my converter yesterday and sent it back for a tweak. My motor is too weak to make it flash at the advertised 3600 RPM, LOL! We'll see when I get it back if it slips more as currently it feels like a stock converter, until you mash the pedal. ;)

Thanks...I hope the car picks up some and drives better to boot. If it cant 60 foot where it needs to I will put a bit more rear gear in it. Thinking like some 3.73's-3.89's. But if it can 60 somewhere in the mid 1.6's I will most likely leave it alone for a bit.

hey 6D9, continental just recommended the same 'tight 10' for me as well. is the 600 bones worth it? how's the street manners after all this time? any trans temp increase or issues? tci recommended the 11 inch breakaway 2500 stall for only $280, so that's my other option. are you glad you went with a more expensive one?

Man....I LOVE this converter. Feels almost like stock driving around town and highway. But step into it a bit and it with flash right up! If you are just looking for a street cruiser then the TCI unit would ok but if you plan to take it to the track at all....Continental all the way!

PS...tranny temps no more than 150...ever!
