I have a 68 mono leaf car, with a 12bolt rear, that I think is not original, but anyway, someone put the Lakewood traction bars on it that takes the place of bottom shock plates, The car has had some pretty hard take lauches in its life, the axle tubes are crack, it leaks, its been welded up a few times, basically it need new axle tubes. Today I bought a 10 bolt out of a 327 4sp 68 monoleaf car, came out of a really nice car drum to drum and I got both lower shock plates all rubber pads, but I did not get any U bolts or T bolts, But I do have a set of U bolts and T bolts from my 78 that are the same going by year one. But you can tell they were using 4 U bolts in the car I got it from? (scratches from U bolts) I was not there when they took it out, so my Questions are..
What side do the shock plates go on, does the driver side shock go in front of the axle or behind? get that one right the pass side no brainer.
Also, one of the shock plates has the E-cable routing bracket already attached, and the other side is not attached and looks like it bolts to one of the U bolts or T bolts, sitting in the car what bolts does it go under?
Last question, the car the 10 bolt came out of they used four U bolts instead of 2 and 2 T bolts, do I need to use 4 or is the 2 U bolt 2 T bolt setup fine?
The 10 bolt is going in the car while I repair the 12 bolt I want to get the 10 bolt in correctly so when I get the 12 bolt ready everthing will be there correctly ready to go.
Any help would be appreciated, and pics say a thousand words for this redneck...
Thanks again
