Looking for some help on this one....

I am looking to buy a 1968 Chevelle from a friend of my wife. The car sale will include two motors/trans that the owner removed from family member vehicles over the years. Which just means he heard them run/drive prior to pulling.

I need to know what these are worth. Again, going by what was reported that they both ran before pulled. They look like they have never been apart and what you would expect to see as far as wear and tear. The seller took both out thinking that they are worth something. So, let's see if he is right, what are they worth?

400 small block
TO419CKP
Motor was out of a running caprice that was involved in an accident. It is complete wires hoses airconditioning compressor all brackets dist. alt. fan air breather etc. it has a 2 barrel carb. still attached to the turbo 350 trans.
Block casting number 39515 Date 11D1072

454 big block
Suffix T0128TRW
Date 1973
This is also a complete motor like above but a 4 barrel carb. It was in an "ice truck" so it did some work over the years it also is still attached to the original 400 turbo transmission.

Both motors have been sitting 10 + years, they do have antifreeze in them and the oil still showed on stick. but no way of turning over or running.

I think the race guys like the 400's but is the 454 worth anything as a platform for a preformance engine?

I am near the end of this deal ready to make my offer. I just need to know what these would bring as used engine/trans.

any help would be appreciated. Sorry, no pictures at this point but could get some if needed.........

I don't know what they are worth but I wish you were closer I'd take that 454 w/TH-400 though. They have some value but I wouldn't think it would be all that much. I gave a buddy of mine $150.00 for a used TH-350 and I had to take the 350 motor it was attached to also.
