Ready to install my power steering pump and lines but the repro lines have the plastic insulation for the one line running under the motor mount. Does any one make the rubber foam that came on factory hoses? The plastic looks so out of place. What do you guys with the concourse cars do? I have never come across NOS PS hoses. Any suggestions would be apprecated.
Thanks!
Don

When I looked in the AIM I 'thought' I remembered that both hoses ran under the motor mount through the one clip, and that both hoses had a protective sleeve on them?

I just used the plastic loom cover that they come with... still looking for something better.

Anyone else???

I'm lucky enough to have an original 40 year old piece on mine! It's pretty beat up but it's hangin' on for dear life. I've never seen a repop of this piece. I wish someone would do it. It shouldn't be all that difficult.

I found mine intacts but oil soaked. Very carful cleaning and re-install and it is presentable.
The Foam sleeve looks very close to ARMAFLEX pipe insulation we use on submarine cooling water pipes,,,Very similar material thickness and density..
I wonder if the Corvettes were equipped as such would any Corvette resto houses offer this product?

FWIW, I couldn't find the part available, but the GM part number for the 69 V8 hose sleeve is 3791814.
67-68 V8 is 3791802.

Hope this may be of some help..:)

Just go over to Home Depot.
Get a piece of the foam insulation used to cover copper air conditioning freon lines.
Just soak it in some oil, and you are very close to the look you need.

I recently installed my power steering box on my 68 and the return hose pointed up, so I pointed the other one up too. Now I read that it should point down and go in between the motor mount? It also has that plastic rib on it. I like the suggestion of the hardware store foam. Thanks
