I have a 67 rs camaro under extreme construction. I have found that the bolts that hold the lower part of the fenders are broken off. These bolts are toward the doors and you are able to see them by looking under the back part of the fenders. My uncle has the same problem with his 68 rs. What is the best way to get these bolts out without serious damage or cutting.

The front lower bolt goes into a cage nut clipped to the lower cowl. With the fender off it can easily be removed. The rear lower bolt goes into a threaded sleeve in the cowl. Most often there is some bolt shank left to grip with pliers as the sleeve is heated to loosen the bolt. If not it will have to drilled or removed via ez-out.

An old restoration trick is to heat the bolt (just the bolt with a small torch tip) then cool it with a squirt bottle of water. Then heat it, cool it, heat it, cool it. It then will almost always turn right out.

Others have had a body shop cut the square of metal out , weld a nut onto the new patch and replace. Mine broke but flush with the fender and when the body is done, that's what I'll do.
