Whats the difference between SCFM and CFM. For air compressors. The new compressors all have SCFM as a rating and the guns all have CFM rating.
Thanks

S stands for "Standard" Which normalizes temperature, humidity, density, etc of the ambient air. Pressure and Volume are directly tied to these criterion, so the S just makes sure the manufacturers are playing on level field when making claims or setting up equipment. For all intensive purposes, you can consider CFM=SCFM for sizing your compressor.

SCFM was Standard, so I guess CFM was optional? :)
