Can someone tell me how to tell if a wood wheel is factory?

Take a look at any repop wheel. The aluminum spokes bend gently at the wheel not sharply like early repop.. Some were smoother thanothers thathad more nubbly in the plastic. Usually you could see the worn through of the dark color and see the lighter beige underneath.

Usually the originals are cracked and look like they are forty years old.. the worse it looks the more likely it is original!!

Restored or clean originals sell for big big bucks... if you are buying one you have to be able to post pics to the site and get an opinion..

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but here goes anyways - the GM factory 'wood wheel' is not really wood, it's plastic. Perhaps you know that already, but for the benefit of those who might not . . . I have seen a lot of steering wheels being advertised as first gen wood steering wheels that are made by Grant and other aftermarket outfits that really are made out of wood.

Do yourself a favor and do a search using the title of your post as the key words. This subject has been discussed several times and some of the responses include pictures.
