I have a 67 r/s automatic 327/275 ........rochester carb and powerglide. I was talking to somebody today about getting the car moving with more power ......here were some of his opinions ..
1) Change rearend to 4:11
2) Cam
3) New intake and Carb
Friend is telling me the car will have alot more this way. I'm looking for more ideas ( except the new 350 sb engine ) I don't want to go crazy with $$$ since this is going to cost enough. What am I looking for ballpark on parts alone ?
Thanks

More power from stop light to stop light? More acceleration when out on the highway? How and when is the car normally driven?
Assuming you mean it needs pep from light to light and that this is a weekend boulavard cruiser, I'd say gear first, then carb & cam together. 4.11 is pretty steep for cruising. I can't remember what gear that combo had, but I would think 3.73 would be more reasonable for a weekend cruiser.
No reason to change to a 350, 327 is a fine little motor. It likes to rev, the gear will help that. The existing small carb has the advantage of being very responsive (qjets have small primaries for the same reason). Finally, cam, carb, and intake should be considered together since they depend so heavily on each other. When making those selections, you must keep the heads and gear in mind.

Ditch the powerglide and put a TH350 in it.The 275hp 327 is a great engine the gear ratios in the glide kill the performance.

Be wary of the 4.11s I have them in mine and any trip on the freeway longer than 30 min...and its just painfull. AND it sounds like the pistons are going to come thru the head at any time cruising at 70 mph......
