First off,, welcome to the best site on the internet. Lots of good info here.

If I am understanding this right you bought mono springs,,this is correct for a non performace car of that year. The issue here is the spring perch that mounts to the Axle. If at some point someone changed out the rearend to a multi leaf then the mono springs will not fit that rearend. Please post the I/D numbers of the R/R and others will chime in and help you out.

Curious though,,why change out the springs ????

All 67 Camaros had mono leaf springs regardless of model. The mono leaf springs, matched with the non-staggered shocks in the 67, contributed to the springs "S-wrapping" on launch causing excessive wheel hop. Mid year model, GM added a factory Radius Rod (traction bar) to the passenger side axle to the floor to limit the axle from rotating hoping to reduce wheel hop.

In 68, they went to staggered shocks on all models, and multi leaf springs on the performance models. Same with 69s.

There are some multi leaf spring sets that will work with mono leaf spring perches, so the fact that it has multis doesn't necessarily mean the rear end, or the perches on the rear were changed.

I doubt your inline 6 had a lot of problems with wheel hop though due to lack of power, so it makes me curious why it was changed over to multi leaf springs, unless one broke at some time in it's past and they just replaced them with multis. It should have a 10 bolt in it as only performance models received a 12 bolt rear. (SS, Z/28, and L30-M20 depending on build date). Do you have any pictures?

hello all , getting back with you it has a10bolt rearend, the multi leaf makes the car set too high in back for my preference ,is there any quick way to determine if it has been changed over from mono to multi ? i know you can get a set of multi for 67-69 but the 67 has about 1 inch shorter frame in back if the person put on the 67-69 springs on it would cause the back to ride higher. where is the number or i/d located on rearend thnk jim

Yes there is and I don't have a picture to show you though. The area on the axel/rear end whre the spring rests, called a sprin purch is shallow on the mono leaf and deeper on the muilti leaf.

So what does this mean? If your multi leaf springs are sitting well out of the "perch" then you a shallow or mono leaf rear end. If they are not sticking out below the perch and are even with the shock plate (plate on the bottom tha the shock is mounted too) then you have a multi leaf rear end.

Can you take a picture to show us? Sorry but don't have anything to post so you see a differance.

BTW:
Welcome to Team Camaro..........67 Camaros Rock!!!!

I believe the stamped number is on the passenger front side axle tube. You might need a little cleaner or sand paper to see the numbers if the axle is a little grundgy. Also is the upper spring perch shallow or deep?

Here's where the axle codes come from. http://camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#RearAxleNumbers
If we can get those numbers we can determine if it is a 67 axle. ALL 67 camaro rear ends would have mono leaf perches. If the axle isn't original, and came from a later year, it could be either/or.
