So I bought this car in June for $5500, just want to know what its worth (or what I could reasonablely get for it now) had planned to build a ProStreet car but it is looking like I am moving and will not have a place to put it for some time.

So I was told the car used to be a small block SS but there is no way to prove that.

It has the originial SS steering wheel.

PS AC car, part of the AC is still with the car

Car is rust free Cali black plate car, rust on the inside door frames and lower back portion of the front fenders. Fenders have been media blasted (walnut shell) about 80% done.

Has front and back seats but they need to be redone.

Has instrument pod (gauges)

No console

I can answer any questions to help find a value.

I wouldn't think it would be worth a whole lot more than what you paid for it. This past spring/summer I helped a friend of mine go pick up a 68 roller in pretty good shape and he only paid $3,500.00 for it.

I was just wondering if it was worth 5K or if I seriously overpaid?

There was a post on here in June asking about the value of the car (from the previous owner) and most said about 5K but I am not getting much interest.

Put it up on craigslist, you might be surprised.

Does the doors have the side windows in it. any other parts with it. How about disc brakes? rear end ?

He says it's a 68, they didn't have the wing windows in 68.

Kirk I think $5K is a good price but I would bet that the economy right now may be part of the reason you haven't had any luck selling it.

Put the front fenders back on and the seats in and throw it on to Ebay. Does it have a 12 bolt rear? If it does, check the date to see if it matches the cars build. Perhaps you could try to verify it as an SS. It is tough on a '68 though.

Hold on on to until after tax time, and then after Bush gives out the 600.00 per person rebate. This way people who may be interested but are holding off incase they owe taxes are in the clear, and also this opens the door to those who get money back from taxes, they will have a little windfall persay.

Its all about timing!

Then put on ebay, autotrader, craigslist,etc...

...Personally, if that car is rustfree as you say, ...I don't think you overpaid. I think the car is worth the $5000.
As was mentioned, ...check the date on the (hopefully 12 bolt) rear, ...if it matches the car, ...it's helps point further that it was an SS. Obviously not hard proof, ...but none-the-less it helps. You mentioned it has gauges, but no console, ...do the dash pod gauges have the tach?? (I'm thinking if so, ...and the console is just missing, ...what is the redline of the tac? ...IF there's a tac, ...redline could be another 'point' that helps support SS)
As others have mentioned, ...bolt the fenders up, put a few things back on it, ...it will help the sale. I too believe the market right now is not in your favor, ...the spring season, post taxes, etc. will all help...

Thanks for all your help guys. I am going to take it off the market and target the after tax time. I will start putting it back together....maybe by that time my situation will have changed and I wont have to sell!

From the mounting holes that are clearly visible on the trans tunnel, I'd say the car originally came with a console, whether there is one hiding in the stack of parts or not.

And a floor shift automatic.

Keeping it sounds like the best scenario!
