I changed out the lock on my steering column and I think I messed something up. The accessory position springs, and start doesnt. Also the pin that engages with the coverplate does not move out at any point in fact it moves in. I dont think its supposed to be that way. Im not sure if I dropped a spring when I was taking it apart or maybe just the lock shaft is not indexed properly with whatever it indexes with.

I could use some help here as you can see im lost! :p

You may not have the tumbler peg in the hole/slot of the rod. The rod may have fallen down while you had the tumbler out replacing it.

No thats not it. looks like I will have to take the column apart to figure out what is wrong.

I thought I had done something to break it but I think it came this way. I bought this as a rebuilt column and whoever rebuilt it did a crappy job. The spring in question was not in correctly. I think I have that spring in right now because the lock pin now engages correctly. I moved it since this picture. But now there is no spring when I turn the ignition to the on position. Can anyone tell me what is wrong or if there is another spring missing somewhere? Im looking at the diagrams in the AIM and Service manual but they are so small. TIA.

EDIT: I finally figured this out n my own. I had taken off the ignition switch to make sure it wasnt binding. When I put it back on the spring came back to the ignition lock. So seems the Wheel lock pin spring somehow just got off track.
